The Expo Group is seeking a detail-oriented Team Leader to join our Customer Account Management team in Irving, Texas. A qualified Team Leader will manage a team of one to ten Customer Account Managers and provide effective guidance. You will be responsible for managing and motivating team members on a daily basis as well as provide guidance to exhibitors, suppliers, and show management. You will be responsible for ensuring smooth team operations and effective collaboration.


If this is the job for you…

  • You are a Customer Service professional: You could manage anywhere from approximately 300 - 1,000 accounts on an individual trade show or event.
    • You’re comfortable interfacing with customers in person, via email and phone regarding the details of their events and exhibit requirements.
    • You can input data (exhibitor information, orders, etc.) into proprietary software for processing exhibitor orders and payments and understand the importance of speed and accuracy.
    • You’re can handle soft sales as required. You can provide good sound solutions, assisting exhibitors with understanding costs and managing budgets.
    • You know how to effectively communicate complex and unfamiliar concepts to exhibitors, helping them have a positive experience.
    • You have dealt with difficult or unhappy clients and understand how to resolve service issues.
  • You have a solid handle on Team Management: We specialize in providing high-level, personalized service. As a Team Leader, you could manage anywhere from 1-10 Customer Account Managers on an individual event or trade show.
    • You understand that training is more than a two-week class and believe in utilizing the teachable moments that happen in our everyday work.
    • You know that anytime there’s a large group working together, there will be conflict. You understand how to identify difficulties within your team and diffuse situations before they get out of hand.
    • You know when issues need to be stepped up to the next level of management and keep open lines of communications between your team and your managers.
  • You are a clear Communicator: You are comfortable interfacing with various internal departments (everything from operations to sales) and can communicate effectively to all, even if the delivery tools are different.
    • You’re comfortable with both the written and spoken word.
    • You can proofread documents for accuracy (including pricing)
  • You understand Supplier Management: You will act as a supply chain manager for several trade shows/events each year.
    • You can read contracts to ensure that all information is correctly transferred into internal systems
    • You understand vendor payment management including submitting invoices for payment, expense reports, company credit card reconciliation etc.
    • You can manage due dates and timelines to ensure that reports and payments are sent according to contractual requirements.
  • Overall, you possess the following knowledge and competencies:
    • Knowledge of performance metrics
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skill
    • Sound financial accounting knowledge
    • Strong analysis and judgment skills
    • Works well in a team environment
    • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
    • Ability to handle escalated services issues, including dispute resolution
    • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Comfortable learning new software as needed
    • Ability to work in fast paced environment
    • Well-developed time management skills
    • Able to complete projects and assignments with minimal supervision
    • Attention to detail

This is what we need you to have:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field
  • 2-5 years of related experience

Preferred:

  • Trade show industry experience
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Ability to develop and motivate a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences
