The Expo Group is seeking a skilled Detailer to join our drafting team in Irving, Texas. You’ll work with the team supporting design development and fabrication of tradeshow and exhibit projects, ranging from basic cabinetry components to more complex structures utilizing glass, metal, fabric and other materials. If you’re the right candidate, you’ll be able to proficiently produce CAD drawings on numerous projects. You should also be knowledgeable in multiple cross platform drawing programs.
Our perfect team member can…
- Prepare CAD drawings based on customer and/or sales specifications and project estimates; determine scale and perform mathematical calculations
- Specify material, hardware, electrical/lighting specifications and building techniques in accordance with customer requirements and manufacturing standards
- Complete software programming for each job to ensure that the exact design is cut to the shape desired
- Determine scale and perform necessary mathematical calculations
- Prepare layouts, patterns and/or scaled drawings for construction
- Print either full-size patterns or scaled drawings for construction
- Archive completed projects and perform all relevant administration functions.
- Input data for each project to track the jobs progress
- Communicate frequently with project team members to update the job progress or make design changes. Participate in design/production meetings and client discussions as needed
- Prioritize workload and communicate issues to ensure on time completion of jobs
We’re looking for someone with…
- At least Trade School or an Associates Degree in related field (required), but we’d prefer a BS in Engineering or Technology
- 3-10+ years of professional AutoCAD experience using recent releases and producing 2D and 3D shop drawings
- The ability to work independently to originate drawings based on limited information, providing workable solutions to highly imaginative design challenges
- The knowledge to create drawings following established company standards and guidelines; ensuring design is in line with bid and build-ability constraints.
- Experience in high quality exhibit fabrication, architectural millwork, graphics and cabinetry build-out.
- Proficiency in developing shop drawings and detailed setup drawings
- Knowledge of basic and complex fabrication practices
- Knowledge of a variety of construction and finish materials including metals, plastics, fabrics, woods, and laminates
- Demonstrated knowledge of drafting, engineering, building techniques, mathematics and mechanical aptitude
- Attention to accuracy and detail
- Ability to value engineer, perform self-directed product research and propose different methods of construction while meeting design intent and budget/time restrictions.
